			<![CDATA[New Zealand's 2008 National Hockey League marks over 100 years of domestic competition in NZ. This years event is packed into a gruelling 10 day schedule played at the Lloyd Elsmore Park in Auckland.<br />
<br />
The men compete for the Challenge Shield, North Harbour are the defending champions. Wellington ladies will defend their title that they won from North Harbour in last years final.<br />
<br />
Guest players may play an important part in the event with some well known international players on view. Midlands Men have drafted Mathew Wells and David Guest  both part of Australias gold medal Athens team and bronze medal Beijing team playing. North Harbour men have the hugely talented Trinidad and Tobago captain, Kwan Browne, while Auckland have Eike Duckwitz, who has played over 200 tests for hockey power-house Germany.<br />
<br />
Midlands women have also drafted in two of USAs successful Beijing team, while Wellington women have Teneal Attard back from Australia.<br />
